Hi, I’m Song Liang. If you and I were sitting across from each other, having coffee, I’d tell you that my journey with the Enneagram didn’t begin as a professional pursuit—it started with my own questions about who I was and why I felt disconnected from myself for so long.
Years ago, I came across the Enneagram during a period of personal struggle. Like many people, I was searching for answers, trying to understand why certain emotional patterns kept showing up in my life. I wasn't looking for labels; I was looking for language to describe what I couldn’t yet make sense of. That exploration became the turning point. Over time, I realised just how powerful and transformative this system could be—not only for me but for others as well.
Eventually, I chose to train under Dr. Joseph Lam, who’s known for his work in connecting Enneagram theory with modern psychology. That training gave me a solid foundation, but the real learning happened through experience, through the stories and lives of the people I’ve worked with. I’ve since completed the course, which has helped ensure that my work stays rooted in both ethical standards and psychological insight.
To date, I’ve guided over a hundred consultations. I’ve worked with parents, kids, young adults, and individuals who just wanted to get to the heart of what was going on inside them. These conversations aren’t about fixing people—they’re about helping them understand their patterns, their motivations, and how those things play out in relationships and daily life.
One experience that stuck with me was working with a mother who felt lost trying to connect with her 12-year-old son. His emotional ups and downs were leaving her frustrated and unsure of what he needed. In my assessment, I examined several key factors that influence his behavior, including his circadian rhythms, physical activity and his attention span from his infancy. By considering these elements from his early childhood. As a result of this comprehensive evaluation, the mother gained profound insights into her son’s subconscious needs and intrinsic motivations. This understanding equipped her to develop tailored parenting strategies that are specifically aligned with her son’s unique personality traits and emotional landscape, fostering a more supportive environment.
I worked with one of my clients to explore the depths of his subconscious mind, revealing the drive that has contributed to his unhappiness since childhood. During our sessions, I helped him understand that his intrinsic drive is cowardice, which leads him to avoid situations of extremes, such as joy and laughter. Consequently, he has developed a habit of suppressing his happiness altogether, creating a cycle where he feels he can never fully embrace the joy he deserves. Through our discussions, he began to recognize the need to confront these fears and allow himself to experience happiness in all its forms.
What I’ve learned through all of this is that every personality type, every pattern, holds something valuable. No type is better or worse—it’s just a different lens through which we see the world. Understanding your own lens can be incredibly freeing. It doesn’t box you in; it actually helps you step out of old patterns with more intention and self-respect.
Personally, the Enneagram has helped me accept parts of myself I used to judge harshly—like my tendency to overthink or distance myself emotionally. It’s also shown me the value of traits I never really gave myself credit for—like my sensitivity and creative thinking. And just as importantly, it’s helped me come to terms with the things I can’t change—the aspects of my temperament that are simply part of who I am. That acceptance has softened my inner dialogue and made mental well-being something I actively nurture, not just something I hope for.
Now, I get to help others do the same. If you’re curious about yourself, if you’re tired of feeling stuck, or if you just want to understand the people around you a little better, I’m here to walk that journey with you. This work isn’t about quick fixes. It’s about seeing clearly, feeling fully, and living more honestly. That’s what drives me, and I’d be honoured to be part of your process.
